Aurora Aksnes' first musical memory involves finding a small piano hidden in the basement, and being fascinated at the sound it made. Jan Oystein Aksnes and May-Britt Aksnes urged Aurora to pursue music, not as an income or as a pastime however, as a chance to develop. Her parents encouraged her to compose. Her inspirations include famous writers Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan and her affinity with Bjork's style. After her mother said that the songs she composed could be used to not make her famous but instead to inspire individuals to recognize the value of themselves and their impact in this world, she started performing them publicly. She started playing piano when she was only six and started writing songs when she was nine. The family did not know until the age of fourteen. The dream was never to become Aurora. She says she just likes to compose music. Music is her most preferred way of feeling something.
